The biggest glass deserves the strongest glass
A sliding glass door is the largest single opening in most homes — sometimes eight feet wide or more of uninterrupted glass. In a hurricane, it's also the most vulnerable: old sliders are often the first thing to fail, and they're a favorite entry point for break-ins the rest of the year. An impact-rated sliding door turns that weak point into a strong point.
What makes an impact slider different
The glass is laminated impact glass — the same debris-rated construction as impact windows, tested to take a hit and stay sealed. The frames are reinforced, the tracks are heavier, and the locking systems are multi-point: instead of one flimsy latch, the door locks at several points along the frame. It closes with a solid feel that old sliders never had.
The everyday upgrades
Homeowners notice three things immediately: quieter rooms (that wall of glass used to transmit every backyard sound), cooler rooms (low-E coatings cut the solar heat that used to bake the living room every afternoon), and smooth operation (new rollers glide; old ones grind). Screens, pet doors, and security bars can usually be fitted to the new door.
Sizing and configuration
We replace standard two-panel sliders and install multi-panel stacking doors for wide openings — the kind that open up a whole wall to the patio. If your opening is an odd size (common in older Florida homes), the door is custom-built to fit, just like our windows.
